The 21st century grant provides quality after school and summer
programs for young people in a safe environment. The
recreation
operates after school programs at Allison Elementary and Norwood View
Elementary. We operate a full time summer camp at Allison.
The Norwood Lindner YMCA operates an after school program at
Sharpsburg.
Collaborators on this grant include the
Norwood
Recreation Commission,
Norwood City Schools, Norwood Lindner YMCA, The Children's Home of
Cincinnati, TriState Foundation (Drake Planetarium) and Hamilton Co.
Family and Children First Council.
The children have the ability to participate in many academic programs.
We offer daily homework help as well as math and reading
programs
and individual tutors. We offer social skills classes and
parent
classes. We also work on family nights planned through out
the
year. The children's days are not just full of work, we have
dance classes, self defense classes, arts & crafts, movie days,
fitness classes and much more.
We were awarded our 1st 21st century grant in 2000 and then awarded a
new grant in July of 2004. This is a 5-year grant and we are
always on the look out for other partners and other grants to provide
more programming for our children so that they have everything they
need to soar beyond expectations.
